RGC Rick Gilchrist Co., Inc. (“RGC”) designs, engineers, fabricates, and erects fully integrated load-bearing cold-formed steel (“CFS”) structural systems for complex mid-rise and high-rise construction. RGC operates early in the life of a project, resolving design challenges and carrying responsibility for both vertical and horizontal structural systems — walls and floors — as a single coordinated structure.
Primary markets include hospitality, student housing, multifamily residential, senior living, and other large-scale commercial and institutional buildings. Located just outside Raleigh, North Carolina, RGC supports projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond.
Founded in 1983 by Rick Gilchrist, RGC began as a framing and drywall contractor serving the Carolinas. Over time, the company evolved into a specialized structural systems firm known for solving difficult load-bearing CFS challenges and advancing projects through disciplined design, engineering, fabrication, and field execution.
Today, RGC’s philosophy remains rooted in accountability, precision, and performance. Clients rely on RGC to engage early, help resolve structural and constructability issues, and deliver systems that perform predictably in the field. RGC performs internal structural analysis, system design, and detailed panel development through an integrated delivery process, with select licensed engineering partners providing independent professional review and final certification. Floor systems are selected and designed based on the structural and delivery requirements of each project — not a predetermined preference — and may incorporate cold-formed steel, composite systems, and structural steel components as required.
This work demands precision across design, engineering, fabrication, sequencing, and field execution. Concrete flatness, bearing conditions, shoring, and temporary stability are not assumptions — they are verified, engineered, and documented. Structural decisions also shape the performance of downstream assemblies, including sheathing, envelope interfaces, inspection sequencing, and other conditions that determine how the building performs and comes together.
RGC’s team of experienced estimators, engineers, project managers, plant personnel, and field superintendents is known for carrying structural systems with discipline and advancing projects earlier than anticipated.
RGC is Veteran Owned and a bonded commercial subcontractor with general contracting licenses in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
